Lent 2020 – Week 2
Welcome to the second week of our Lenten journey. This week, we will:
- Focus on The Lord’s Prayer….”hallowed be Thy name.”
- Read Psalm 111:1-10
- Fast Tuesday
The Lord’s Prayer
As we take The Lord’s Prayer line-by-line, we focus this week on: “hallowed be Thy Name.” Take this opportunity to think about the importance of His Name, the power of His Name, the intimacy within His Name. And as we pray, let’s remember the reverence and awe that comes with understanding jus t exactly WHO we’re praying to.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
Scripture for March 1-7
Don’t forget to sit and soak, as we read God’s Word. It’s important to listen intently and rely on His Word to mold us and form us into His image.
Psalm 111
1 Praise the Lord.
I will extol the Lord with all my heart
in the council of the upright and in the assembly.
2 Great are the works of the Lord;
they are pondered by all who delight in them.
3 Glorious and majestic are his deeds,
and his righteousness endures forever.
4 He has caused his wonders to be remembered;
the Lord is
gracious and compassionate.
5 He provides food for those who fear him;
he remembers his covenant forever.
6 He has shown his people the power of his works,
giving them the lands of other nations.
7 The works of his hands are faithful and just;
all his precepts are trustworthy.
8 They are established for ever and ever,
enacted in faithfulness and uprightness.
9 He provided redemption for his people;
he ordained his covenant forever—
holy and awesome is his name.
10 The fear of the Lord is
the beginning of wisdom;
all who follow his precepts have good understanding.
To him belongs eternal praise.
Fasting
This week, we will fast breakfast and lunch on Tuesday. As Jeff spoke about at the Ash Wednesday service, we fully realize there are dietary needs for some. And that’s completely ok. If that’s you, please take care of yourself and DO NOT fast from food. Find something else you can give up. Jeff will be posting on this topic later this week….so keep an eye out for more clarification.
Praying your week is blessed in a BIG way! I’m excited to be on this journey with each of you.
