Lent 2020 – Week 5

Welcome to the fifth week of our Lenten journey. This week, we will:

1).             Focus on The Lord’s Prayer: “…and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”

2). Scripture = Colossians 3:12-17

3). Fasting = Tuesday breakfast and lunch

The Lord’s Prayer

What a whirlwind of emotions that have transpired over the last few weeks! God is good…..He is still in control……He’s not surprised by any of this……and maybe, just maybe, we can use this time to slow us down enough to reflect on the most important things in this life: Loving God, Loving Each Other and Loving The World! With that often comes opportunities for reconciliation…..with God and with other. As we pray through this portion of The Lord’s Prayer, let’s allow God to search our hearts to reveal any areas that are in defiance to Him. And allow Him to show us areas where we need to seek reconciliation with others.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.  Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.  Amen.

Scripture for March 22-28

Don’t forget to sit and soak, as we read God’s Word. It’s important to listen intently and rely on His Word to mold us and form us into His image.

Colossians 3:12-17

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Fasting

This week, we will again fast breakfast and lunch on Tuesday. See Jeff’s previous post regarding fasting…..especially if you are unable to fast from food for dietary/health reasons. The key is to put sacrifice something in order to specifically focus on the LORD.

I know times are strange at the moment. Let’s keep digging our heels in, standing on the TRUTHS of who God is and what He’s done (and is continuing to do), and fully trusting that HE is in control!

Praying fervently for each of you….
