What The ARC for the River Valley does for our community

Mission: To empower families and individuals with disabilities to reach their full potential through recreational activities and advocacy.

Overview: A local chapter of The Arc of the United States, serving over 250 members across Sebastian, Crawford, Logan, and Franklin counties in AR, and Leflore and Sequoyah

What Grace Community Church does for The Arc

  • We provide funds to support this organization’s operational needs

  • We have multiple people on the Board of Directors, including Ken Duncan and

    Stan Stille

  • Ken, Stan, and others provide numerous services during the week for improvements to the facilities, connecting routinely with the members and staff, and encouraging others to join them in sharing our blessings, gifts, and talents to help support these families and individuals

  • Support fundraisers and special events

What does volunteering look like?

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Event Volunteers: Assist with event registration (checking in members, handling payments), serving food, instructing cooking or art classes, teaching culture classes, and assisting with our garden program. We also need help with Thursday night bowling check-in and Bingo.
  • Donations: Paper towels, water, art supplies, garden supplies, and Bingo prizes.
  • Sponsorship: Sponsor a weekly or monthly activity ($10.00/month).
  • Specific Support (Ken and Stan’s roles): Facility repairs, event support (cooking, cleaning, emceeing), picking up food bank orders, attending fundraisers, and serving on the Board of Directors.
