Here is the third of the five gifts we are offering to Christ this Christmas: Serve. One of the original ways of talking about Christians was to talk about people of “the way.” Christianity wasn’t simply a set of beliefs, but a way of living in which we imitated the example of Christ.
“In your relationship with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death–even death on a cross!” Philippians 2:5-8
As you have a conversation with God about how he is calling you to serve, I encourage you to use the serve form from our website: Grace Website. Click on the “Ministries” tab and scroll down to “serve”. This will bring up a pdf form that you can fill out online.
Here is a thought for you as well to discuss with God as you consider where He is calling you to serve: In order to be faithful to God you may have to give up something else. We have a tendency to continually add things into our life without recognizing one of the greatest lies: “You can do it all.” No, you can’t. You can’t add more and more without ever taking away from all the other responsibilities and callings in life. You have to make choices in life. Running around overburdened, overstressed, and overscheduled doesn’t look like the way of Christ either.
Be open in your conversation with God about not only what He wants you to do, but what He may be calling you to set aside for this season in life. May you find great joy in spending this time with the God who has loved you with an everlasting love!
Yours in Christ,
Jeff
