I do not feel called to use Facebook as a place to discuss controversial subjects. For me personally, I rarely find Facebook to be conducive for loving Christian dialogue on controversial subjects. You may notice as you read these pastoral blogs that there is nowhere to comment on my post below. If you want to visit about any of this, I’d be happy to visit with you–just not on an impersonal public comment section.
For those who choose to post on public social media (and in this matter I believe Christians should live and let live) here are a few things to consider:
1. Have I been drinking? If so, it is best not to post.
2. Is it true and have I verified that it is so? If not, it is best not to post.
3. Do I want future employers to read this? If not, it is best not to post.
4. Will this bring about something good, holy, and pure? If not, it is best not to post.
5. Can I say this as an ambassador of Christ? If not, it is best not to post.
6. Am I angry? If so, it is best not to post.
7. Does this have anything to do with cats? If so, it is best not to post.
Yours in Christ,
Jeff
